Concrete jungle where dreams are made of.

The trip of my life started this year on the 26th of July and ended on the 3rd of August. My mother had promised me to take me anywhere I wanted when I turned 18, so I chose New York City. I've been obsessed with the United States since I was a child and as I was growing up and getting more interested with everything related to English; I also became to be in love with NYC. It is such a special and multicultural city; anything could happen in New York. The day I found out we were going I couldn't stop crying and smiling for 20 minutes straight, I was so ridiculously happy. On the morning of the 26th of July, everything was very frenetic and rushed. My mom and my sister were arguing about something stupid and I was incredibly tired as I didn't have any sleep the night before. At 15:00 everything was ready and we headed to the airport, nervous as ever. 8 hours later, we arrived at the JFK airport and my eyes couldn't believe what I was living. Even though I was very excited, I wasn't able to stop thinking about the luggage and all the police that had to let us in the country. Hours later, we arrived to the hotel that was literally next to Times Square, it was mesmerizing. After having to deal with some issues in the reception of the hotel, we were all laid out in our beds, dreaming about the days ahead of us and not being able to believe where we were. The next day began pretty early, and at 9 o'clock or so, we were already having breakfast at the hotel buffet, it was wonderful, one of the things I was more excited about in the USA was absolutely the food! That day we visited the center of the city, Times Square, Broadway, Chrysler Building and begin to see the dynamic of the city. We also visited the Empire State Building of course, and we went to the top, it was absolutely unforgettable, the view was ridiculously beautiful and I could feel myself not that important in such a huge city full of life. Hours later we went to have dinner to some fast food restaurant, something my mom wasn't too happy about, and then headed back to our hotel as we were incredibly tired. It was such a marvellous first day in NYC.

Another day and another opportunity to have the best time of my life. We had a trip to the different areas of NYC scheduled to that day and it was great. We got to visit with more Spanish people some areas of New York such as Queens, Brooklyn or the Bronx. It was fascinating and very interesting to see every part of NYC , the differences they all had and the common things what made NYC such an special city. It is also remarkable that we got to buy a lot of clothes and stuff that day, I love going shopping. Our guide told us very interesting and cool thing about New York and played us every typical and famous song about the city as we were driving around in the van, it was great. The places I visited that day that I liked the most where the Yankees Stadium, the Flushing Meadows Park which was beautiful and I also enjoyed the Bronx. I saw a yellow bus for the first time there and I was very excited and happy about it too!
Next day we decided to go to the most expensive neighborhoods of NYC and visit cool and known places as the 5th avenue, the 11 memorial, the building of the United Nations and seeing that areas which were pretty cool indeed. We also went to Central Park, which was wonderful and very pretty. The weather was very nice that day so we could see a lot of people playing sports, reading, having picnics and fun on the outside. It was also there where we saw the John Lennon's memorial and a beautiful castle in central park. It was nice to see so many people enjoying their free time riding bikes or being with their families and friends, I love New York. For dinner we enjoyed a delicious hamburger from the so well-known fast food restaurant Shake Shack, and even though we could feel ourselves getting fatter by the second, we liked it very much. Here in the pictures you can see me next to the Tiffany and co. shop and the United Nations building where I hope I can work someday. The pictures of the bottom are from the castle that is situated in central park which is beautiful with and amazing view of the park and a building of the republic of South Korea where I took a photo because I'm kind of obsessed with k-pop, Korean culture and South Korea.

After a good night of sleep, we woke up feeling ourselves very happy and willing to go one of the most important places in New York City! I was very excited about trying a typical American breakfast with its pancakes, bacon and stuff so we went to a very nice restaurant next to Greenwich Village and we had an amazing time. Everything was wonderful and even though we had to walk quite a lot to get there it was absolutely worth it. Having ourselves quite full, we started our day going to Staten Island, the Wall Street District and going to visit the Statue of the Liberty. The weather was quite bad that day and there were some hours where it rained nonstop. Nevertheless, we went to have lunch to a Subway ''restaurant'' and when we went out it had already stopped. We met the bull of Wall Street, some important buildings and then headed to see the Statue of Liberty. We met a woman who helped us find it and give us some advice about it, for example, taking the boat to Staten Island which was free instead of paying for the one who went to the Statue. I liked that day very much, even if it rained some hours, we went to places I was willing very much to see, as the University of New York or the original apartment of FRIENDS and the area where it is situated.
In my last day in New York city, before we took the plane back to Spain, we went to some amazing places we couldn't leave without visiting. We visit the MoMa, the New York City Library, went shopping as we have gone almost everyday in that week and visit Coney Island. My mother didn't want to visit Coney Island as first as she thought there were more interesting things to do but I was very excited about it so we did it. It was very cool, everything was as I had thought it would be, straight out of an American movie, I loved it. I even played some games, eat typical food as hot dogs and cotton candy and spend some money on these ''future machines''. As we were coming back to our hotel we cross the Brooklyn Bridge as the sun was going down and it was impossibly beautiful, my mom got very emetional and we couldn't be happier. We went out that night to enjoy some of our time in the night of New York, walking around in Times Square with all the lights and it was gorgeous.
As my amazing travel was getting to an end, that exact night before we went back to Spain, I started getting incredibly sad. I was so happy I got the opportunity to be in NYC but I didn't want to leave. But as I thought more and more about it, I couldn't feel nothing more than happy and grateful to my mom, grateful she did a huge effort to take us there, make my wish come true. I also could see how happy she was and how eager to tell everybody about it. Even though we had our up and downs during the trip I wouldn't change anything about it. As I was falling asleep that night in my bed in the hotel bedroom next to Times Square thinking about the ridiculous amount of clothes and stuff I have bought, I realized why I didn't feel sad anymore. I didn' feel sad because I have realized something, I was going to come back. Sooner or later I'd come back to that wonderful city where every dream could come true and I'll live there, making mine true. Because just as the song says: ''New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made of, there's nothing you can't do...''
